Steve Stauffacher President
Steve moved to Chicago from Wisconsin in the 1980s to attend DePaul University. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and has lived in greater Chicago ever since.
He started his career with Philips Consumer Electronics and after 7 years as a corporate trainer, he went on to become a Software Engineer. He’s been working in that field for companies like Cognos, IBM, Symantec, Kofax and has been with Adobe since 2012.
Steve’s introduction to PADS was at Immanuel Church in Streamwood, IL in 1995. After moving to Elgin, he started attending the Winter Harvest gala and eventually joined the board of directors in 2013. In the fall of 2016, he was elected President of the board where he now works helping to advance PADS’ advocacy and support of the homeless of greater Elgin. Some of Steve’s proudest achievements are working with PADS’ Executive Director and board on their continuing mission and growth in the future.
Beth Kruger Vice-President
Beth has been a home owner in Elgin since 1985 and is involved with many different services and groups in the Elgin Community. She has attended the Elgin Leadership Academy and she was a member of the City of Elgin Planning and Zoning commission for many years. Beth is also a board member of the League of Women Voters for the Elgin Area and she serves as a Library Trustee for the Gail Borden Public Library.
Beth first started her involvement with PADS as a volunteer, coordinating their annual fund raiser event for several years before formally joining the board of directors in 2011.
Joe Waldau Treasurer
Joe is a Board Member and Treasurer of PADS of Elgin. Joe has served on the board since 2014 and has been a PADS of Elgin volunteer since 2006. He is President and CEO of Sternberg Lighting Company of Roselle, Illinois, a manufacturer of outdoor decorative street and area lighting products. Joe is an Elgin resident where he lives with his wife Sharon.
Debbie McGuire Secretary
Debbie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Dual Disorder Professional with over 40 years experience in mental health. She has volunteered at the local food pantry and served on several social ministry committees and projects. Debbie has been a PADS of Elgin Board member since 2010. She is passionate about working with the homeless population and the resilience experienced when people are faced with adversity.
Ron Barkby President Emeritus
Originally from upstate New York, Ron married his wife Ruth in 1972 and moved to Manassas, VA for six years before moving to Elgin in late 1978. Ron worked in the telecommunications industry in the regulatory field for three different companies. He retired in 2010. Ron has been part of the PADS organization since 1990 when he first joined on as the treasurer. Ron still resides in Elgin and is close by to his two daughter and four grandchildren.
Dan Fox Member
Dan was hired by Township High School District 211 as a social studies teacher in the fall of 1970 and after completing 33 years at Conant High School, he retired from teaching. Dan is currently working with Aurora University as a supervisor for teacher candidates in the College of Education.
Dan is married to Karen and they moved to Elgin in I975. They have two married sons. Both Dan and Karen have been very active in the Elgin community, serving on various boards and committees. They were recently awarded the 2018 Jack Shales Award by the United Way of Elgin for their dedication to our community.
Dan also served eight years on the Elgin City Council (1987-1995). He has been President of the Literacy Volunteers of America-Elgin Affiliate Board of Directors; and has served on the Elgin Planning and Development Commission. Dan is currently serving on the Cultivation Committee of the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin and is co-facilitator of the Elgin Area Leadership Academy which began in 1991 and continues today.
Dan has served on the PADS of Elgin Board of Directors since 2003. He has chaired the Dance committee for the “Stars Dance for PADS of Elgin.” which is part of the Winter Harvest for the Homeless fundraiser.
Doug Kramp Member
Douglas Kramp earned degrees in Physics and Biophysics from The University of Rochester. For many years he worked at The University of Wisconsin, and later retired from Siemens Medical Systems.
Doug has lived in Elgin since 1991. He first became involved with PADS by attending business meetings, and he later joined the board in 1995.
Doug enjoys playing tennis and has been involved with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for many years.
Jim Moellendorf Member
Graduating from University of Wisconsin, Jim was a Vocational School Teacher for Sales and Marketing. Then in 1978, he took his Sales and Marketing into the Plastics Industry. He has been a Vice President with four different companies in that industry for the last 40 years. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Component Plastics in Elgin.
Jim is married to Nancy and they have 3 Children and 5 grandchildren. Nancy and Jim live in South Elgin and are active in their church along with locate charity organizations.
After years of volunteering with PADS of Elgin, Jim just recently joined as a board member. He is looking forward to giving back to his community and to helping make peoples life’s better and more for fulfilling.
Susan Moylan Member
Sue received her bachelor’s degree from Loyola University and went on to receive her master’s in educational administration from Northern Illinois University. She married her husband William in 1965 and together they have 4 daughters. Sue was employed at Elgin Community College from 1989-2004. She has been very active in the Elgin community having served on the planning commission, the city council and she is currently the board treasurer for the Gail Borden Public Library. Sue has been on the PADS board since 2005.
Jennifer Sellers-Wong Member
Helping people is important to Jennifer both in her career and personal life and PADS mission was especially appealing to her because of the importance it places on providing solutions to homelessness in addition to the overnight shelter.
Jennifer Sellers Wong was raised in Elgin and is a proud graduate of Larkin High School. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and received her law degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law. Currently she is a partner in the law firm Early, Tousey, Regan, Wlodek and Wong, LLP in Elgin, IL. Family is very important to Jennifer and she enjoys spending time with her husband, her two young boys and the rest of her extended family.
